American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM)
Vision
The AMCHAM in Mauritius will offer its members regular networking opportunities, access to seminars conducted by Government and private sector experts from both markets on specific needs identified by the membership and, more generally, will be a resource for learning for members and non-members seeking to do business in either Mauritius or the US.
Our Services
The AMCHAM in Mauritius is a conduit for businesses in Mauritius and the United States forming partnerships and doing business with each other.
The US offers many of the highest quality and most technologically advanced products and services. It is also one of the largest consumer markets in the world. Mauritius has strong and rapidly growing financial services, textile, marine and IT sectors. The AMCHAM in Mauritius offers services for US and Mauritian businesses seeking to do business and access the commercial benefits offered in each of the nations.

Membership
Individual
Individual Membership opens all of the networking and informational benefits of the AMCHAM to the individual participating. Individual membership is also required to run for a leadership position in AMCHAM in Mauritius.
Corporate
Corporate Membership is a level above the Individual membership. Corporate Members will be able to display their logo on the website of AMCHAM in Mauritius and will be invited to sponsor events. Corporate members will also be able to display the AMCHAM in Mauritius logo on their advertising materials.
Membership in each of the tiers is selective. We strive to build a highly reputable organization whose branding opens opportunities to its membership that wouldn’t otherwise be available. Individuals must be in good standing both in the US and in all markets that Mauritius has trade relationships with. Corporate Members must withstand a higher level of scrutiny and must exemplify ethical and legal business practices. AMCHAM in Mauritius will be more than an organization, it will be a partner that stands side by side with its members to help them succeed. Membership will be decided by its Managing Committee.

Committees
The AMCHAM in Mauritius has 2 types of Committees, Permanent and Functional.
The Permanent Committees represent areas where the AMCHAM has expected ongoing efforts. These will be the following:
Membership Committee
This committee will be the primary conduit for membership outreach and new member recruitment. Â The Committee will be the one making sure that AMCHAM in Mauritius is providing value to its members, identifying new needs, and sustaining an effort to bring new members represent existing and emerging business activity in Mauritius.
Events Committee
Events, both large and small, are the way Members get to know each other, learn about new opportunities for growth and, generally, build a community. AMCHAM in Mauritius will strive to have a full calendar of dynamic events that have tangible value.
Trade Relations Committee
This committee will largely focus on government and private sector initiatives in the US and Mauritius that help facilitate trade growth, or conversely, will identify risks that could threaten existing growth. The Trade Relations Committee is the voice of the AMCHAM in Mauritius and in the US.
Ethics Oversight Committee
The AMCHAM in Mauritius is built on the core belief that healthy, long-term trade relationships are built on a commitment to ethical behavior, compliance with US and Mauritian law and continually striving to add to the health of the people of Mauritius. This Committee will be tasked with constantly looking at how AMCHAM in Mauritius can do better.
Functional Committees can be formed by the Managing Committee for any other purpose which has a defined tenure shorter than 1 year. Functional Committees should represent the entrepreneurial spirit of AMCHAM. The hope is that these functions prove to have long-term value and either are repeated or made permanent.
